Aztek Networks Receives Award for Innovation at Boulder County Business Report's IQ Awards

The Company Was Recognized for Its 911 Emergency Access Switch, The Aztek 5000S, Which Enhances Voice Network Reliability and Provides Greater Public Safety

Boulder, Colo. (Aug. 17, 2007) - The Boulder County Business Report (BCBR) announced the 10 most-innovative companies during its eighth annual IQ Awards for innovation on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007. Within the communications category, the top honor went to Boulder-based Aztek Networks Inc., a leading provider of independent Emergency Stand Alone (ESA) switching products for telecommunications carriers.

Aztek was recognized for its 911 emergency backup voice switch, the Aztek 5000S, which was introduced earlier this year and is currently available via partnerships with broadband access system vendors and premier telecommunications equipment resellers. The 5000S switch, with Aztek's patent-pending True ESA™ technology, is the world's smallest Class 5 local voice switch and is designed to enhance network reliability and provide greater public safety. The Aztek 5000S continuously monitors a signaling link and only becomes active if a failure or interruption is detected. If a failure does occur for any reason, the 5000S automatically assumes call control and maintains local calling capability and 911 services until the link is restored. That will save lives and provide telecommunications carriers and their subscribers peace of mind knowing that their telephone lines will remain operable and accessible at all times.

"We are thrilled to receive local recognition for our innovation within the communications sector and believe that this will continue to help us attract and retain top talent," said Steven Bruny, CEO at Aztek Networks, commenting about BCBR's IQ award. "I believe IQ symbolizes the innovative spirit found in many Boulder Valley companies and that bodes well for the entire area. We are honored to receive the IQ award, and we are determined to keep that spirit of innovation and creativity alive and well within our company."

This year, BCBR received more than 75 nominations from companies in the Boulder Valley and selected three finalists in each of 10 business categories. The top-10 innovators included:

Lewis, editor and publisher of the Boulder County Business Report. "The task of selecting only 10 winners from the many nominations received is daunting for our judges. We really feel that this year's winners represent a great mix of both large and small companies producing some of the most-innovative products and services in the world."
